Prof. Sun has been engaged in clinical work of ocular tumor and orbital disease for nearly 30 years. He has studied in Japan, Holland and other countries and conducted academic exchanges in many countries in Europe and America. He has diagnosed and treated nearly 10,000 cases of various orbital diseases, published more than 100 papers. He was the editor-in-chief of 5 monographs and edited 20 monographs on orbital diseases . He has achieved one Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress and three Second Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress , and has trained more than 40 doctoral students and postgraduates. He has undertaken many projects such as international cooperation, national industry special fund and natural science fund. He is the director of the Asia-pacific Orbital and Oculoplastic Society; the director of the European and American Association of Chinese Overseas Students; a visiting professor of the Orbital Center of the University of Amsterdam,Netherlands; an evaluation expert the National Natural Science Foundation of China; an editorial board member of more than 10 journals including Chinese Ophthalmology, the representative of the 13th National People's Congress; and a vice chairman of the Jiusan Society in Tianjin.
